Stuffed Baked Apples
Jan. 24th, 2009 10:31 pm1 to 2 T chopped walnuts or pecans
2 T brown sugar (I use the splenda mix)
1 t butter
1/8 t cinnamon
dash nutmeg
1 T granola
baking apples such as rome, winesap, golden delicious
Remove core and peel from upper half of apple. Place in oven proof baking dish. Combine nuts, brown sugar, butter and spices, place around apples in dish. Bake at 350 for 30 to 40 minutes. Service with caramel sauce...
Sauce:
3 t cornswtarch
1/2 c cold water
3 T honey
6 T butter
6 T Brown Sugar
dash of cinnamon and nutmeg
Blend cornstarch and cold water in sauce pan until smooth. Add the remaining ingredients to saucepan. Stir constantly in heat until it's thickened and boiling. Remove from heat and serve warm
