My mom's apple pie recipe

1 quart tart, raw apples, peeled & sliced (I use Granny Smith)
3/4 cup granulated sugar
1 1/2 tsps cinnamon & a dash nutmeg
Cook above until just tender
Put in an unbaked pie shell of your choice (*whispers: I often use Pillsbury refrigerated pie dough because it is really good and easy*)
Mix until crumbly and sprinkle over the top:
1/2 cup flour
3/4 cup grated sharp cheddar cheese
1/2 cup soft butter
3/8 to 1/2 cup granulated sugar
Bake pie at 425 degrees for 1/2 hour or until the crust is golden brown
It's very yummy with a scoop of vanilla ice cream!
